QLD:Spate of school fire concerns authorities
Queensland authorities are concerned about a spate of school fires in the state's southeast.
The most recent destroyed a library at Carmel College, Thornlands, south of Brisbane,
after starting at 9.30 (AEST) last night and took three fire crews about 45 minutes to
bring under control.
Last Friday there was damage to administration offices, prep classrooms, IT infrastructure
and the old library at Eagle Junction State School on Brisbane's northside during an early
morning fire.
There was also a blaze at a Gold Coast school.
Fire Operations manager MARK WELSH has told ABC radio the Carmel College fire is the
most expensive with furniture, computers and library books all destroyed along with smoke
damage to the building.
