NSW: Anti smoking message to soon appear on beer coasters

SYDNEY, April 25 AAP - Beer coasters throughout Australia will soon warn patrons about
the hazardous effects of smoking such as wrinkles and impotency.

The federal government has reviewed its outdated cigarettes packet warnings and a new
series of stickers and coasters will be released next week.

The Daily Telegraph said the campaign hoped to debunk the sexy image associated with smoking.

The move comes as the government plans to introduce new cigarette packet warnings.

Action on Smoking and Health Australia CEO Anne Jones said current labels were five
years old and needed updating.

"People aren't really taking any notice of them ... we need bigger and better warnings
on cigarette packets," she told the Telegraph.

"We're seeking to see pictures and much more comprehensive information on impotency
for men and premature ageing for women."
